An 18-year-old, Amanam Bassey Abraham, has been arrested in Akwa Ibom for possessing a locally made pistol. Police spokesperson DSP Timfon John stated that the suspect claimed his landlord gave him the gun as collateral for a ₦5,000 loan.
Acting on intelligence, police arrested Abraham in Akpautong Village. During interrogation, he alleged that the firearm belonged to his landlord and that he planned to give it to his father for safekeeping. Authorities have launched a manhunt for the unnamed landlord.
