President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a firm executive directive to Nigeria's service chiefs and security agency heads, ordering the immediate rescue of all abducted citizens and the systematic eradication of all bandit and terrorist camps across the nation.
Briefing State House correspondents on Thursday, October 15, 2026, following a high-level security meeting at the Presidential Villa, Minister of Defence Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.) confirmed that the President demanded absolute neutrality and security ahead of the general elections scheduled for January 2027.
To prevent dislodged insurgents from reoccupying cleared territories, the Federal Government is expanding the Presidential Forest Guards Initiative, deploying trained personnel across reclaimed forest lands in several states.
Furthermore, the administration disclosed plans to designate power generation infrastructure as critical national assets to curb sabotage, alongside commissioning 10 newly acquired military aircraft to boost counter-insurgency operations.
"The directive from the President is: all of us must go all out to fish out and rescue all those that have been abducted... There shouldn’t be any camp of any terrorists or bandits anywhere in Nigeria." — Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.), Minister of Defence
