The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday, October 26, 2026, ordered the immediate remand of one Sanusi Dankaka at the Kuje Correctional Centre over allegations of attempting to blackmail Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, with leaked private photographs and videos.
Presiding Judge Salim Ibrahim issued the remand order after Dankaka was formally arraigned by the Department of State Services (DSS) on a two-count charge bordering on cybercrime, criminal intimidation, and extortion under charge number FHC/ABJ/CR/699/2026.
According to prosecution counsel Yusuf Afegbua, the defendant and accomplices currently at large operated a Facebook account identified as 'Sanusi Dankaka Yahaya' from Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, using the platform to threaten the publication of compromised media intended to cause injury, public insult, and annoyance to the Kano State Governor.
Dankaka pleaded not guilty to both counts when the charges were read. Defense counsel Kauna Penzin confirmed readiness for trial, but Justice Ibrahim granted the prosecution's application to remand the defendant in prison custody until the formal trial commences on December 7, 2026.
