Why is Victor Osimhen, Galatasaray Transfer News Trending?

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen is dominating global sports headlines following high-stakes developments surrounding his transfer status at Galatasaray amid intense interest from top European clubs.

The transfer speculation reached a fever pitch after reports revealed that Osimhen was offered to Spanish La Liga giants Atlético Madrid through intermediaries for a fee in the region of €75 million.

Reports indicated that the 27-year-old Nigerian striker was even willing to adjust his personal salary demands to play under manager Diego Simeone. However, Atlético Madrid declined the proposal, prioritizing their existing forward line led by Julián Álvarez.

Concurrently, Galatasaray has made its firm stance clear by rejecting multiple lucrative trade and cash proposals from major European clubs—including an ambitious player-plus-cash bid from Arsenal consisting of Viktor Gyökeres plus €30 million.

Galatasaray views Osimhen as irreplaceable ahead of their upcoming domestic and UEFA Champions League campaigns.

Having secured his permanent registration through June 2029 without a release clause, the Turkish champions intend to retain Osimhen as the central cornerstone of their attack, assigning him the club captaincy and key tactical leadership alongside their frontline setup.
