American missionary pilot Kevin Rideout has been released after spending more than nine months in captivity following his abduction in Niamey, Niger.
US President Donald Trump confirmed Rideout's release via a statement on Truth Social, noting that the former hostage had been reunited with his wife, Krista, and was preparing to travel back to the United States.
Rideout, a Christian missionary and pilot serving with SIM International for over 19 years, was abducted outside his residence in October 2025 by three armed men and transported toward the Tillaberi region in western Niger.
