Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has confirmed that a devastating Russian airstrike targeted a sensitive military ammunition warehouse on the western outskirts of Kyiv, triggering massive secondary explosions.
The acknowledgment—a rare public disclosure of military infrastructure damage by Ukrainian authorities—has sparked intense public anger and a high-stakes criminal investigation into administrative negligence by state defense personnel.
The strike, which hit the small suburban town of Vyshneve, resulted in the tragic deaths of 10 local residents and caused extensive destruction to hundreds of nearby civilian residential properties.

The warehouse facility was under the direct management of Ukraine's state-owned weapons manufacturer, Ukroboronprom. President Zelenskiy expressed deep frustration regarding the handling of military logistics within populated civilian buffer zones, warning that several high-ranking weapons executives face immediate dismissal and criminal prosecution.
"The situation is absolutely appalling: There was an ammunition depot in Vyshneve. The enemy struck this depot, causing a large number of casualties and significant losses," Zelenskiy told journalists in an encrypted media statement.
