The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the seizure of more than two billion tramadol pills over the past 18 months through intelligence-led operations and international security partnerships.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), made the revelation during an official inspection visit to the Lekki Free Trade Zone and Lekki Deep Sea Port in Lagos State.
Marwa stated that the agency's success in intercepting large-scale illicit consignments was made possible through close intelligence sharing with international counterparts, particularly in India and Pakistan.

Warning drug trafficking syndicates against attempting to exploit Nigeria’s maritime corridors and economic zones, Marwa highlighted enhanced inter-agency collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service and NAFDAC.
He also cited the recent dismantling of a multi-million-dollar clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Ogun State as proof of the agency's unyielding enforcement stance.
"Within the last 18 months, we have seized more than two billion pills of tramadol through coordinated operations and intelligence sharing with our international partners, especially in India and Pakistan.
The fight against drug abuse and trafficking cannot be left to the NDLEA alone. It requires total societal collaboration."
