In a significant breakthrough for counter-terrorism operations in Nigeria's North-East, operatives of the Military Intelligence Brigade (MIB) have successfully tracked and arrested a high-profile Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) informant.
The targeted, intelligence-led sting operation was executed by troops attached to Sector 3 of Operation HADIN KAI, working in close tactical synergy with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Isa Janyu, was cornered at approximately 7:20 PM at the bustling Kasuwan Shanu (Cattle Market) area within Monguno town, Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to security reports compiled by frontline analyst Zagazola Makama, items recovered from the suspect’s immediate possession upon his arrest included a Tecno mobile smartphone, a concealed knife, personal grooming items, and ₦10,000 in cash.

Preliminary profiling by military investigators revealed that Janyu is a native of Arianna Mai Massallachi Village, located in the neighboring Kukawa Local Government Area.
He reportedly specialized in monitoring local communities to identify wealthy merchants, community leaders, and affluent residents, subsequently relaying their logistical details to armed ISWAP cells to coordinate lucrative kidnapping-for-ransom plots.
