United States President Donald Trump has expressed high satisfaction with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s resolute stance in combating terrorism, pledging continued military support and a deeper strategic partnership between Washington and Abuja.
In an official letter dated July 6, released by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Trump commended Tinubu's leadership in protecting vulnerable populations, particularly Christian communities targeted by violent extremist groups across West Africa.
The official exchange follows key military breakthroughs under the US-Nigeria 2026 Defence Cooperation Roadmap, including the deployment of US Special Operations Forces to train and supply advanced intelligence to Nigerian Armed Forces.

These collaborative efforts previously yielded major victories, such as the coordinated May 16 counter-terror operation in the Lake Chad region that resulted in the elimination of top ISIS leader Abubakar Al-Minoki alongside over 167 insurgents.
"Thank you for your thoughtful letter. Your kind words mean a great deal to me, and I appreciate your decisive leadership on behalf of the Nigerian people.
I applaud your resolve to tackle the issues plaguing your nation, especially the violence affecting Christian communities, and it is a true honour to stand with you in the fight against terrorists."
