The family of a Nigerian woman, Christiana Nwosu, has launched an urgent fundraising appeal on GoFundMe to raise £10,000 to repatriate her remains to Nigeria following her sudden death in the United Kingdom.
Nwosu passed away on July 19, 2026, after suffering a fatal cardiac arrest during a visit to the UK, leaving her family and loved ones in deep grief.
The fundraising campaign, organized by Chijioke Metuka on behalf of the Nwosu family, aims to ease the unexpected financial burden associated with international repatriation.
Metuka described the late Nwosu as a cherished figure whose family’s primary wish is to lay her to rest in her ancestral homeland alongside her extended family.
The requested £10,000 budget is set to cover essential international transfer expenses, including UK funeral director fees, specialist repatriation services, administrative documentation, air freight charges, and final burial costs in Nigeria. As of press time, the campaign has received generous public support, raising over £7,900 toward its financial target.
This incident follows a similar tragedy reported earlier in the year when another Nigerian woman, Oluranti Akinyemi, died shortly after arriving in the UK to attend her son's graduation ceremony, prompting a £20,000 repatriation fundraiser on JustGiving.
