The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has officially arraigned a prominent 63-year-old alleged drug baron, Anochili Innocent, alongside three seasoned Mexican nationals and six other Nigerian accomplices before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.
The group was apprehended for allegedly constructing and running a massive, industrial-scale clandestine methamphetamine manufacturing laboratory tucked deep within Ogun State.
The ten high-profile defendants were formally brought before presiding Justice Musa Kakaki on an extensive 11-count criminal charge.

The litigation borders heavily on unlawful conspiracy, the establishment of a super-clandestine laboratory, and the illicit production and possession of exactly 2,419.48 kilograms of high-grade methamphetamine. The seized narcotics carry a staggering valuation of over N480 billion ($300+ million) within the international drug market.
"The presence of Mexican nationals among those arrested and arraigned today speaks to the alarming reach of international drug cartels now attempting to entrench themselves in Nigeria," stated NDLEA Chairman, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd).
According to the official charge sheets, the dangerous syndicate operated between February and May 16, 2026, setting up their manufacturing operations at a fenced property in Mowe village, situated within the Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Security intelligence revealed that the ring systematically transported massive volumes of highly volatile precursor chemicals—including toluene, hydrochloric acid, acetone, and phenyl-2-propane (P2P)—from Lagos commercial hubs down to the forest laboratory.
Following coordinated sting operations, all ten defendants entered a plea of not guilty. Justice Kakaki subsequently ordered that the suspects be remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Lagos, adjourning the trial until July 16 and 22, 2026.
