Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested Adeniyi Adeyemi, the controversial self-styled Director-General of the non-existent "Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council."
Adeyemi was apprehended at a hideout in Osun State following a bench warrant issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja after he repeatedly failed to appear for his arraignment.
The legal battle escalated under Justice Mohammed Umar, who granted an oral application for the suspect's arrest filed by prosecution counsel Wisdom Madaki.
Defending his client's absence, Adeyemi's lawyer, Genesis Francis, argued that the defendant was hiding out of fear for his life and had even written to President Bola Tinubu over alleged threats.
Responding directly to these claims, Justice Umar stated, "The court will help him be alive," before issuing the arrest warrant and adjourning the case to September 30, 2026.
The prosecution had filed an eight-count charge (FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025) against Adeyemi and two accomplices, identified as Femi and Anu, who remain at large.
The suspects stand accused of conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation. The charges stem from the operations of a fraudulent executive body that the Nigerian Presidency has repeatedly warned the public does not exist.
