Grammy Award-winning Afrobeat pioneer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known worldwide as Burna Boy, was given a gentle maternal reminder about his personal life during his glamorous 35th birthday celebration on July 2, 2026.
His mother and long-term talent manager, Bose Ogulu, publicly urged the music icon to consider settling down, marrying, and starting a family of his own.
The intimate family moment was captured in a viral social media video shared via Snapchat by one of the singer’s close associates, Richie 7. During the birthday dinner attended by close friends and immediate family members, Burna Boy was asked to step forward and make his official birthday wishes before cutting his cake.
The singer audibly stated that he wished for long life, excellent health, and continued global prosperity. His mother immediately chimed in, telling him to explicitly add a good wife and children to his list of aspirations.
"I wish for good health and prosperity. Add good wife and children," Bose Ogulu cut in humorously during the singer's official birthday wish segment.
The maternal advice comes years after Burna Boy revealed in an extensive international media interview why he has consciously chosen to remain unmarried and childless during his musical prime.
The "Last Last" crooner explained that he harbors an intense dislike for having children out of wedlock or raising kids without being fully present in their day-to-day lives.
Given his demanding global touring schedules and studio commitments, the music star emphasized that he will only commit to building a family when he can dedicate 100 per cent of his time to being a supportive, full-time father.
