Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (rtd), former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State General Sani Abacha, has strongly refuted claims made by retired Department of State Services (DSS) operative Dennis Amachree regarding Abacha's final moments.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 3rd General Hassan Usman Katsina Memorial Conference in Kaduna, Al-Mustapha described Amachree's published account as a fabricated narrative influenced by third parties.
In his newly released book DSS @ 40: My Journey Behind the Shield, Amachree asserted that Abacha suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while with a female pharmacist in Abuja.

However, Al-Mustapha dismissed the claim, urging the public to ignore "lies" spread about a deceased person who cannot defend himself, while boasting that he holds comprehensive CCTV footage of Abacha's final hours that disproves the former DSS operative's story.
"The boy was asked to write the lies by others. I have all the CCTV footages of what happened in my custody, so what he said are not true... Just ignore his lies. It’s bad to say such things on someone that is dead."
