The conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup has triggered a massive managerial overhaul across international football, with 17 national team head coaches leaving their positions due to contract expirations, resignations, or dismissals.
Rudi Garcia became the latest departure after the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) announced it would not extend his contract following Belgium's quarter-final elimination against eventual champions Spain.
The tournament saw several high-profile managerial eras come to an end. Didier Deschamps stepped down after a historic 14-year tenure as France manager, while Zlatko Dalić ended his 9-year stint with Croatia following a Round of 32 exit.
Other prominent managers leaving their positions include Julian Nagelsmann (Germany), Roberto MartÃnez (Portugal), Ronald Koeman (Netherlands), and Marcelo Bielsa (Uruguay).

African national teams were also significantly impacted by the post-tournament coaching shakeup. Senegal terminated the contract of Pape Thiaw following their elimination, Tunisia sacked Sabri Lamouchi after an opening 5-1 defeat, Carlos Queiroz resigned as Ghana boss, and Vladimir Petković departed his role with the Algerian national team.
