The illicit consignment was explicitly destined for remnant criminal elements and bandits seeking to destabilize the socio-political peace of Kogi State following recent catastrophic operational defeats inflicted upon them by state forces.
According to an official statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, on Monday, the defensive breakthrough was achieved through a seamless partnership involving local Kogi vigilantes, the Hybrid Forces operating under the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.

The impounded vehicle, which was formally intercepted and secured in Kabba, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, contained two AK-47 assault rifles, multiple ammunition magazines, 67 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, two handguns, and sets of military uniforms intended for camouflage operations.
State intelligence mapping indicated that the trapped bandits were desperately trying to replenish their depleted arsenals following the high-profile neutralization of notorious bandit leader Kachalla Battijo on June 10, 2026, after his failed attempt to kidnap secondary school students in Iluke Bunu.
