The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has strongly defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against mounting public criticism over the country's volatile security architecture.
Speaking during the high-profile US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organized by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, D.O.C., the influential cleric asserted that the President has fulfilled his baseline constitutional role as Commander-in-Chief by issuing explicit executive directives to the armed forces.
Adeboye argued that holding the President personally accountable for ongoing operational failures on the battlefront is an unfair assessment of democratic executive leadership.
Drawing a direct tactical parallel with global leaders like former United States President Donald Trump, Adeboye noted that a Commander-in-Chief is responsible for high-level strategy and authorization rather than physical deployment on the front lines.
He maintained that the operational execution of these directives rests squarely on the shoulders of appointed security chiefs and their subordinates.
"I need to make this one clear: I don’t support those who are accusing the president of not doing enough. When the commander-in-chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit. You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki and fight," Pastor Enoch Adeboye clarified.
Despite his defense of the presidency, the revered cleric frankly acknowledged that national insecurity has deteriorated significantly, spreading beyond its historic northern epicenter straight to the doorsteps of southern states.
To combat this escalation, Adeboye disclosed that he held private discussions with President Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, where he advised the administration to issue a strict 90-day ultimatum to all military commanders to eradicate terrorism or resign.
He also urged the federal government to aggressively prosecute known high-profile politicians and corporate businessmen sponsoring the illicit arms and motorcycle networks fueling the crisis.
