A 35-year-old Canada-based Nigerian, identified as Idris Olajide Oladejo, is currently facing formal trial before the Toronto Regional Bail Centre after being charged with one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference.
The suspect, who resides locally in Toronto, was apprehended by detectives attached to the Toronto Police Service (TPS) on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, after being positively identified by eyewitnesses and victims.
According to two separate administrative statements issued by the Toronto Police Service, the alleged assault took place on Sunday evening, June 21, at approximately 7:00 p.m. inside a grocery commercial store situated around the Victoria Park Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East axis in the Scarborough neighborhood.
Investigators noted that the minor victim was browsing the store aisles alongside their parents when the unknown male suspect approached and initiated unwanted physical contact. The suspect immediately fled the building, sparking an instant foot chase by a brave civilian bystander before the perpetrator managed to temporarily evade detection.

"It is reported that the victim was at a grocery store in the area with their parents. The unknown suspect sexually assaulted the victim. The suspect then fled the area and was chased by a civilian," the official TPS press brief noted.
Following a public appeal that detailed the suspect's physical profile, Oladejo was taken into custody and scheduled for a formal morning bail hearing in room 102 at the 2201 Finch Avenue West court building.
Under Canadian criminal jurisprudence, the charge of sexual assault encompasses all iterations of unwanted sexual contact including kissing, grabbing, or non-consensual penetration.
While the suspect remains presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, this development comes just months after another Canada-based Nigerian, Kayode Roberts, was charged by the TPS in a completely separate hate-motivated criminal harassment and assault investigation involving a local neighbor.
