Yoweri Museveni was officially sworn in for his seventh term as President of Uganda on May 12, 2026, at the Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala.
The 81-year-old leader, who has been in power since 1986, secured another five-year mandate following the January 2026 elections, where he officially garnered 71.65% of the vote.
The inauguration cements Museveni's status as one of Africa’s longest-serving heads of state. His main challenger, 43-year-old Bobi Wine, finished with 24.72% of the vote.

During the ceremony, Museveni reflected on his long journey from political activist at the University of Dar es Salaam to the helm of Ugandan leadership, where he has remained for four decades.
