The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun Area 1 Command, has intercepted a massive consignment of 10,126 parcels of "Ghana Loud" (Cannabis Indica) with an estimated street value exceeding N5 billion.
Acting Customs Area Comptroller Olukayode Afeni announced the seizure on Tuesday during a press briefing at the Idiroko Border Post.
Beyond the narcotics, the command’s intensive intelligence-led operations over the last 41 days resulted in 72 other seizures.

These included 1,759 bags of foreign rice, 14,550 litres of petrol, and several li
ve pangolins—an endangered species—which were handed over to relevant conservation authorities. The total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of all seized items stands at a staggering N6.77 billion.
According to Qubes Magazine, Comptroller Afeni warned that the influx of such high-grade drugs fuels criminal activities like banditry and kidnapping.
The intercepted cannabis has been officially handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Since the start of 2026, the command has removed over 26,000 parcels of cannabis from the streets, significantly disrupting illegal smuggling networks in Ogun State.
