The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has hailed the Supreme Court’s Friday, May 1, 2026, judgment as a decisive moment for Nigeria's political landscape.
Reacting to the verdict on the leadership disputes within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Wike described the outcome as a triumph for the rule of law.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Wike noted that the apex court's 3–2 split decision nullified a parallel PDP leadership structure, providing much-needed clarity for the opposition party's internal stability.
Regarding the ADC, Wike explained that the setting aside of the status quo order means the party must now return to the Federal High Court for further litigation.
“The rule of law must prevail in political disputes. Adherence to court orders is essential for maintaining democratic integrity,” Wike added.
