Grief and tears enveloped the Owolake community in Ogbomoso on Friday as Adesiyan Joel Adegboye, an Assistant Headmaster killed during a coordinated terrorist attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, was laid to rest.
Adegboye was killed when armed bandits operating on motorcycles simultaneously breached security at Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, alongside Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary School in Esiele.
Prior to his interment, a highly emotional funeral service was conducted at Ayegun Baptist Church, Ogbomoso, where family members, colleagues, and representatives of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) gathered to pay their final respects.
The Oyo State NUT Chairman, Comrade Hassan Ajibola, delivered a moving tribute, describing the late educator as a dedicated pillar of the academic community who carried out his duties with absolute passion and sincerity.

Providing an official operational update on the security crisis, the spokesman for the Oyo State Police Command, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed that while no student was killed during the assault, a commercial motorcyclist who resisted the bandits was also shot dead.
The police public relations officer officially confirmed that a total of 32 victims were carted away into the forest, including 7 primary pupils, 18 secondary school students, and 7 teachers, among whom was a Vice Principal, Mrs. Alamu Folawe.
In a major breakthrough, joint security forces comprising the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun), and the NSCDC Agro-Rangers have arrested six suspects.
The individuals are currently in custody for acting as internal informants for the terrorist syndicate.
Investigators successfully tracked the suspects through compromised telephone conversations, where they were caught providing logistical descriptions on how the abductors could navigate the difficult terrain of the nearby National Park to evade tactical air and ground rescue teams.
