The Agbekoya Farmers’ Society of Nigeria has raised an institutional alarm regarding the ongoing captivity of over 40 pupils, students, and teachers abducted on May 15, 2026, from communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
According to intelligence reports and localized community sources cited by the apex farmers' group, the heavily armed kidnappers are currently moving the abductees through thick forest reserves cutting across neighbouring states to systematically evade search-and-rescue operations launched by state security operatives.
In a joint statement co-signed by the organization's President-General, Chief Kamoru Okikiola, and the National Public Relations Officer, Chief Olatunji, the group vehemently condemned the escalating wave of banditry and structural insecurity plaguing transit highways, schools, and forest frontiers within the South-West.

In response, Agbekoya has officially requested administrative clearance from the Federal Government and South-West governors to deploy traditional security strategies, local charms, and non-firearm weapons to hunt down syndicates and disarm criminals.
Chief Okikiola emphasized that the group can effectively secure rural border communities without conventional guns, reminiscent of historical defensive methodologies.
Furthermore, the body urged the six regional governors to move past isolated security operations and immediately establish a unified intelligence-sharing platform and a rapid-response joint security task force incorporating local hunters, police, and military assets.
