Ogun Customs Intercept Unregistered Luxury Bus Laden With Camouflage Uniforms

The Ogun I Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted an unregistered luxury passenger commercial bus heavily laden with military camouflage apparel, massive quantities of synthetic cannabis indica, and other highly prohibited contraband materials.

The highly successful tactical interception was executed at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday along the strategic Sagamu–Ore–Benin Expressway corridor while the illicit cargo was being actively transported to the eastern axis of the country.

Briefing newsmen on Monday at the command headquarters in Idiroko, the Acting Area Controller, Comptroller Oladapo Afeni, stated that the intercept was achieved via intelligence-driven surveillance operations after the commercial vehicle had successfully bypassed several security checkpoints from Lagos State.

A meticulous 100 percent physical examination of the vehicle uncovered 197 pieces of camouflage trousers and shorts concealed in unmarked commercial cartons, five sets of two-piece military uniforms, 32 pieces of mixed camouflage innerwear, 154 parcels of high-grade synthetic cannabis indica (popularly termed Canadian Loud), and seven parcels of Colorado.

Afeni estimated the cumulative street value of the intercepted contraband at over ₦259,000,000, warning that the combination of military uniforms and illicit narcotics points to a highly organized attempt by non-state actors to undermine national security through impersonation.

In line with established inter-agency operational protocols, the customs command has officially transferred the recovered narcotics and two arrested suspects to the Idiroko Special Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), received by Deputy Commander Ganiyu Adeyooye, for comprehensive forensic profiling and eventual prosecution.
