A Lagos woman has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre following a viral video showing her assaulting her 15-year-old daughter with a knife.
The incident, which occurred in the Ipaja area, was flagged by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (LSDVA) on April 29, 2026.
The disturbing footage showed the woman straddling the teenager while brandishing a knife. The victim has since been rescued by the Child Protection Unit and placed in a shelter.
The defendant appeared before the Samuel Ilori Magistrate Court on Thursday, where she was remanded pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The LSDVA reiterated the state’s zero-tolerance policy for child abuse.
