Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The governor announced the move on Saturday following a stakeholders' meeting, citing the irreconcilable crisis within the PDP and the nullification of the 2025 Ibadan National Convention as primary reasons for his exit.

Mohammed, who was first elected to the Senate in 2007, declared his intention to return to the Bauchi South Senatorial seat in 2027 under the APM banner.

Flanked by APM National Chairman Yusuf Dantalle, the governor moved his entire political structure, including commissioners and special advisers, to the new party.

“The APM offers us a viable platform to organize effectively and present a credible alternative without legal encumbrances,” Mohammed stated.
