Former Manchester United and England star Ashley Young has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 40.
Young, currently playing for Ipswich Town, confirmed that the final day of the Championship season this Saturday will likely be his last appearance.
In a statement, Young reflected on a stellar 23-year career that spanned clubs like Watford, Aston Villa, Inter Milan, and Everton. During his nine years at Old Trafford, he won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Europa League.
“I have lived my dream... It's now time for some reflection,” Young stated. Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna praised the veteran's professionalism, noting his massive impact on the group’s promotion bid this season.
