Vice President Shettima Advocates for Mechanized Farming to Combat Nigeria’s Food Crisis
Vice President Kashim Shettima has emphasized that increasing food production is insufficient to solve Nigeria's food crisis without the integration of modern machinery and private sector partnerships.
Represented by the Minister of Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari, at the launch of a new modern seed processing plant in Kano, the VP described the facility as a major milestone for the nation.
The new sesame and grains processing plant is expected to strengthen the local value chain, making Nigerian agricultural exports more competitive in the global market.
Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf highlighted the state’s strategic advantage as a leading hub for wheat, maize, and sesame production, arguing that Kano is the ideal location for large-scale industrial processing.
Stakeholders believe the facility will significantly reduce post-harvest losses and boost farmer incomes.
