Football pundit Paul Merson has warned that Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior is on the brink of dismissal following a "harrowing" 3-0 defeat at Brighton.
The loss marks Chelsea's fifth consecutive league defeat without scoring, a record-breaking slump not seen at the club in over a century.
Once top-tier contenders and reigning World Champions, Chelsea have slipped to seventh place, trailing Liverpool by seven points.
With teams like Bournemouth and Brentford breathing down their necks with games in hand, Merson suggests that Rosenior’s side could find themselves in the bottom half of the table within weeks.
The pressure is mounting ahead of an FA Cup semi-final against Leeds this weekend. "He knows he's in trouble," Merson wrote in his latest column, highlighting that the season is rapidly slipping away from a manager who only took over in January.
