Renowned economist and former NESG Chairman, Muhammad Hayatu-Deen, has shared a harrowing personal account of the insecurity in Borno State, revealing that his own sister was held captive in the Sambisa Forest for three years before escaping.

He presented alarming statistics, stating that approximately 105 million Nigerians—nearly half the population—are currently living in extreme poverty, with 90% of the nation's poorest residing in Northern Nigeria.
