Edo Police Command Rescues Nine Victims Following Strategic Bush-Combing Operations
The Edo State Police Command has successfully rescued nine individuals from the clutches of kidnappers in two separate incidents.
In a statement released on Friday, April 24, 2026, PPRO Eno Ikoedem confirmed that all victims abducted during the recent attack on a GUO Transport Company bus along the Benin–Lagos Expressway have been found alive.
The rescue was the result of a massive deployment of tactical teams and aerial surveillance ordered by Commissioner Monday Agbonika.
Pressure from the "bush-combing" operations forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives. In a secondary operation, four other victims held in the Imiegba forest in Agenebode were also secured.
The police have now reinforced security along the expressway following the April 18 attack, which tragically claimed the life of the bus driver.
