Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has launched a scathing attack on the Presidency, accusing the current administration of using state institutions to intimidate political rivals.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV on Friday, April 17, 2026, Amaechi challenged President Bola Tinubu to allow the judiciary and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to function without executive interference.
Amaechi claimed that the Federal Government is threatened by the rising profile of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and is allegedly using legal maneuvers to leave the party "leaderless."
"If he's confident, why apply the use of the institutions against ADC? Tell him he should instruct his National Security Adviser to leave the judiciary and INEC alone," Amaechi stated during the interview.
The former Rivers State Governor further asserted that if a transparent election were held today with all candidates allowed on the ballot, "President Tinubu will lose."
He cited the struggling economy and worsening insecurity as factors that have alienated the electorate from the incumbent.
