Former Governor Al-Makura Warns of Anti-Party Activities as Nasarawa APC Succession Row Deepens
The political atmosphere in Nasarawa State has reached a boiling point as Senator Tanko Al-Makura officially dismissed Governor Abdullahi Sule’s endorsement of Senator Ahmed Wadada as his preferred successor.
Al-Makura, a former Governor himself, labeled the move a violation of due process and "premature."
Speaking on Channels TV on April 22, 2026, Al-Makura revealed that party stakeholders had previously agreed on direct primaries to select the 2027 candidate.
He criticized the decision to present Wadada to the President at the Villa without internal consultation.
“Individual members only become aspirants after buying forms. To name a 'successor' now is unfair to the people of Nasarawa,” Al-Makura stated.
The Senator warned that bypassing agreed processes could lead to mass anger and anti-party activities, potentially jeopardizing the APC's grip on the state.
