Galatasaray fans have received a massive boost as Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen is officially on the recovery path following a successful hand surgery in Istanbul.

The 27-year-old striker, who sustained the injury during a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool earlier this month, is targeting a return for the legendary "Intercontinental Derby" against Fenerbahçe on April 26, 2026.

According to prominent Galatasaray reporter Ali Naci Küçük, the 2023 African Player of the Year is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks.

This timeline means Osimhen will miss league and cup fixtures against Trabzonspor, Göztepe, Kocaelispor, and Gençlerbirliği.

However, the striker has personally reassured club president Dursun Özbek of his determination to lead the line in the season’s most critical match.

“Don’t worry, President. I will be on the field, and we will be champions,” Osimhen reportedly told the club hierarchy before being discharged from Maslak Acıbadem Hospital.

Osimhen has been in sensational form this season, racking up 19 goals and 7 assists in 29 appearances.

With Galatasaray currently holding a four-point lead at the top of the Süper Lig table, his return for the April 26 fixture at Rams Park could ultimately decide the destination of the Turkish league title.
