The social and event industry in Rivers State has been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of Mina Orupabo, a prominent event planner and CEO of Special Bensington Ushers.
Ms. Orupabo passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from injuries sustained during a brutal gun attack in Port Harcourt.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening, March 19, around 8:00 p.m. near Total Gospel Road, just off the busy Peter Odili Road.
According to reports from eyewitnesses and local sources, Mina was en route to an event hall for a routine pre-event inspection when unidentified gunmen ambushed her vehicle and opened fire.
While her driver and a third passenger miraculously managed to escape the scene unharmed, the popular entrepreneur was hit by the hail of bullets.
She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, where medical teams fought for two days to save her life. Sadly, she succumbed to her wounds over the weekend.
No group has claimed responsibility for the targeted attack, and the motive remains unclear.

The Rivers State Police Command is expected to launch a full investigation into the shooting to identify the assailants who fled the scene immediately after the act.
