Ondo Police Use Viral CCTV Footage to Smash Akure Kidnap Syndicate

Ondo State Police Command suspects arrested for kidnapping in Akure via CCTV surveillance

In a significant victory for technology-led policing, the Ondo State Police Command has apprehended three suspected kidnappers after their criminal activities were caught on a viral CCTV video.

The suspects—Mohammed Koro (27), Muhammad Usman (30), and Musa Alhaji (23)—were tracked down following a brazen abduction on Oda Road in Akure South Local Government Area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, the viral footage allowed the command’s intelligence team to activate digital surveillance and coordinate a field operation.

During the raid, police successfully rescued three victims: Tosin Adesida, Adeniran Adesuyi, and Adewunmi Adewusi.

The rescued individuals have been debriefed and taken to a medical facility for treatment.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, noted that the arrest aligns with the vision of IGP Olatunji Disu to modernize Nigerian policing through surveillance technology.

The suspects have reportedly made confessional statements and will be charged to court as soon as investigations into other syndicate members are concluded.
