Nigerian Army Recovers 74 Terrorist Bodies Following Intensified Operations in Borno State
The Nigerian Armed Forces have recorded a massive victory against insurgents in the North-East, recovering at least 74 terrorist bodies following a week of high-intensity combat.
Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed on Friday that troops of Operation Hadin Kai successfully neutralized dozens of fighters and foiled a "complex drone-assisted attack" aimed at military positions.
The most significant encounter took place in Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area, where troops repelled a major assault, killing senior commanders in the process.
Follow-up operations between March 13 and March 19 led to the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons, including 38 AK-47 rifles, three PKT machine guns, and an RPG tube.
“These operations demonstrate the Armed Forces’ resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of action,” Maj.-Gen. Onoja stated, noting that coordinated air and ground strikes also degraded ISWAP capabilities in Baga, Damboa, and Buratai.
Beyond the North-East, the military intercepted gunrunners in Taraba and rescued abducted victims in Plateau and Benue.
In the Niger Delta, Operation Delta Safe continued its crackdown on economic sabotage, dismantling illegal refining sites and seizing over 3,000 liters of stolen petroleum products.
The DHQ reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and maintaining law and order across all geopolitical zones.
