Iran Threatens Total Middle East War Following Trump’s 48-Hour Infrastructure Ultimatum
The Middle East is teetering on the edge of total regional war as Tehran issued a defiant counter-threat to U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest ultimatum.
Following Trump's vow on Truth Social to "obliterate" Iran’s power plants if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened within 48 hours, the Iranian military operational command warned that any strike on their soil would lead to the destruction of "all energy, information technology, and desalination infrastructure" belonging to the U.S. and its allies in the region.
The escalation follows a devastating Iranian missile attack on southern Israel, where two missiles struck the towns of Dimona and Arad.
According to AFP reports, the strikes wounded over 100 people and landed just five kilometers from Israel’s secretive nuclear research facility.
"This town had never seen anything like this," said one 17-year-old resident in Arad, describing the destruction of residential buildings.
In retaliation, Israel launched a fresh wave of air strikes on the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Sunday morning.
Despite the loss of top leadership earlier this year, analysts suggest the Islamic Republic's military capacity is proving more resilient than Western intelligence anticipated.
Meanwhile, the conflict has expanded geographically, with Saudi Arabia intercepting drones over Riyadh and the UK confirming an unsuccessful long-range Iranian missile attack on the Diego Garcia military base.
As the 48-hour deadline approaches (23:44 GMT Monday), the world remains on edge over a potential "nuclear accident," a risk highlighted by UN nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi.
