US Set to Deport 79 Nigerians on "Worst-of-the-Worst" Criminal List

US Department of Homeland Security deportation list Nigerian convicts ICE

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has listed 79 convicted Nigerians for deportation as part of its “worst-of-the-worst” criminal alien crackdown. The individuals, identified on the DHS website, were convicted for offenses including fraud, drug trafficking, assault, manslaughter, and robbery.

An accompanying note stated that the DHS and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are “fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations, starting with the worst of the worst.”

Notable names on the list include Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, Bamidele Bolatiwa, and Ifeanyi Nwaozomudoh, among others. The list comprises dozens of individuals arrested under the intensified immigration enforcement policy of the Trump administration.

This action aligns with reported sweeps that have caused panic among some immigrant communities, with reports indicating that some Nigerians in the U.S. have gone into hiding or are returning home secretly to avoid deportation.
