The Taraba State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued ten minors and arrested a suspected human trafficker in a successful intelligence-led operation in Jalingo.
State Commandant Mr. Bako Amos confirmed the operation, which took place around 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Kurmi Park. The sting was carried out with support from Mrs. Sarah Ishaya, Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Human Trafficking.
“The suspect was apprehended while making preparations to traffic the 10 children to an unknown destination,” Amos stated in a release to journalists.
He added that both the rescued minors and the alleged trafficker are currently in NAPTIP custody as investigations continue to uncover the full scope of the trafficking network and identify any accomplices.
The operation highlights NAPTIP’s intensified efforts to combat human trafficking in Taraba State and protect vulnerable children from exploitation. It also underscores the importance of collaboration between government agencies and political offices in addressing this critical issue.
Further details regarding the ages and identities of the rescued children, as well as the specific charges against the suspect, are expected as the investigation progresses.
