Arsenal concluded the January transfer window without a first-team addition but sealed two teenage signings after the deadline, while Sandro Tonali’s agent denied offering the Newcastle midfielder to the club.
The Gunners announced the capture of 18-year-old forward Evan Mooney from St. Mirren for an initial £400,000, with add-ons and a sell-on clause. Earlier on deadline day, they signed 18-year-old defender Jaden Dixon from Stoke City for around £500,000. Both will join the academy setup.
Manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged the club explored cover for the injured Mikel Merino but found no suitable first-team option. “We need to do everything that we possibly can to see if we have a player that is available. And if we don't, we keep what we have,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tonali’s agent Giuseppe Riso dismissed reports linking the Italian star to Arsenal. “We never had any conversation with Arsenal. Newcastle were never gonna let Tonali leave in January. There’s absolutely nothing into it,” Riso told Sky Italia.
