Suspected terrorists have attacked Gare Village in Madagali Local Government Area, the hometown of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, kidnapping six members of a single family. The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, with the assailants also rustling livestock.
The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje. He stated that a combined rescue team comprising the police, the military, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has been deployed to the area for search-and-rescue operations.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Command immediately intensified collaboration and deployed additional personnel and operational assets in a joint operation,” Nguroje said in a statement. The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed sustained operations and reinforced patrols across Madagali and other border communities.
This attack adds to the security challenges in Adamawa State, coming shortly after a recent attack in Hong LGA claimed 12 lives. Governor Fintiri has commenced a tour of all 21 local governments to assess the security situation firsthand.
Security forces remain on high alert, with authorities vowing to ensure the safe return of the victims and prevent further attacks in the vulnerable border region.
