Police Await Pastor Chris Okafor Over Alleged Sexual Offences

Lagos pastor Chris Okafor accused of rape fails to honour police invitation at SCID Panti

The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has reportedly failed to honour an invitation extended to him by the Lagos State Police Command over allegations of rape and other offences capable of causing a breach of public peace.

According to Punch, the cleric was invited to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, by 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The invitation followed multiple complaints alleging sexual offences and related misconduct.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had ordered a thorough investigation into the allegations levelled against the pastor.

An officer attached to the SCID, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed on Monday that Okafor did not report as directed. “After the CP’s directive on Sunday, the DCP immediately instructed the office handling the case to debrief him, but they waited and did not see him. It is evening already, and he is obviously not coming here today,” the officer said.

Another police source familiar with the development revealed that the pastor allegedly sent emissaries to the police command requesting more time. “We received calls from some people who appealed on his behalf, asking the police authorities to give him more time. They gave assurances that he would still show up,” the source added.

The police command also disclosed that adequate security had been provided for the alleged victims and urged them to report to the SCID, Panti, where investigations had commenced. The police further assured that the identities of victims and witnesses would be kept confidential and protected throughout the investigation process.

However, as of Monday evening, no alleged victims or witnesses had presented themselves to the SCID for interrogation. Efforts to obtain a reaction from the police spokesperson were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages sent to her remained unanswered at the time of filing this report.

The controversy surrounding Pastor Okafor began in mid-December 2025 after multiple allegations surfaced on social media. Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, in a series of Instagram videos posted on December 14, 2025, alleged she was involved in a long-term sexual relationship with the cleric from 2017, accusing him of broken marriage promises and other misconduct.

Amid mounting public outrage, Okafor reportedly addressed his congregation on New Year’s Day, apologised for past “mistakes,” and knelt at the pulpit to seek forgiveness. Reports also indicate that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria is considering disciplinary action, while the pastor has allegedly stepped aside from pastoral duties pending the outcome of investigations.
