Anthony Joshua Vows to Help Deceased Friends Achieve Their Goals After Fatal Crash

Anthony Joshua emotional video statement pays tribute late friends Sina Ghami Latif Ayodele crash

British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua has broken his silence one month after a tragic car crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close friends, vowing to honor their memory by helping achieve their dreams. In an emotional six-minute video shared on social media, the former heavyweight champion fought back tears as he paid tribute to his late strength coach, Sina Ghami, and personal trainer, Latif "Latz" Ayodele.

The accident occurred on December 29, 2025, near Sagamu, Ogun State, when Joshua's Lexus SUV collided with a truck. Joshua sustained minor injuries, but his two friends did not survive.

"They’re my brothers. They’re my friends first and foremost... We were living together," Joshua said, describing them as integral pillars in his life and career. "I’ve lost people before, but I don’t think I’ve lost people like that. My left and my right."

Despite the profound grief, Joshua declared a renewed sense of mission. "The mission must go on... what my goal is, is to continue to help them achieve their goals," he stated, promising to support their families. "It’s not just physical strength that will get me through. It’s going to take a lot of strength from the higher power."

He thanked fans globally for their outpouring of support and directly addressed the families of the deceased. The boxer's heartfelt message underscores the deep personal loss behind his public persona as he prepares to move forward both in and out of the ring.
