The Satellite Town community in Lagos State has been thrown into mourning following the brutal murder of a professional hairstylist, Sebastine Timothy, who was shot dead by suspected armed robbers in his home on Sunday night.
According to a report by PUNCH Metro, the incident occurred on Olasanoye Street. A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the victim was attacked shortly after returning home from work. The source detailed that the assailants not only robbed Timothy of his belongings but also forced him to transfer an undisclosed sum of money from his bank account before executing him.
“The robbers robbed him of his belongings and transferred a certain amount of money from his bank account. He was thereafter shot in the head,” the police source stated. The robbers subsequently fled the scene, and neighbours who heard the gunshots later discovered his lifeless body.

In a conflicting account, a channel known for exposing cult activities, Confra Naija, linked the killing to a suspected cult attack. In a post on X, the platform alleged that the assailants were Eiye cult members who had initially come to attack Timothy's brother, a purported member of the Aye confraternity. When they could not find his brother, they turned on Sebastine.
“They forced him to unlock his phone and transfer money to them, took his phone after the transfer, and shot him in the head,” the platform wrote. This narrative suggests a more targeted attack than a random robbery.
However, when contacted by PUNCH Metro, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, provided a different version of events. She stated that the deceased sustained a head injury during a fight with unidentified men and died on his way to the hospital.
“He sustained an injury to the head and died on his way to the hospital. The police can’t say if it is a gunshot injury or a machete cut,” Adebisi added. This incident has heightened concerns over safety and repeated cult-related violence in Lagos, with residents calling for increased police patrols to prevent further tragedies.
