The Delta State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough with the arrest of a notorious serial killer and prison escapee, Michael Ezenwai, alongside a self-proclaimed pastor accused of using fake prophecies to rape his church members.
According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on Wednesday in Asaba, the serial killer was apprehended in the Agbor area. The arrest on October 24, 2025, was initially for attempting to sell a suspected stolen phone. The investigation took a dark turn when a caller identified the phone's owner as her sister, Christabel Egedefe.
“Upon the strength of this information, the DPO and team proceeded to the house of the said Christabel and discovered her dead in her apartment,” the statement revealed. The suspect subsequently confessed to murdering the 26-year-old victim during a robbery operation on October 23.

Preliminary investigations uncovered even more horrifying details. SP Edafe revealed that Ezenwai is a serial murderer who was part of the syndicate that raped and murdered Uwaila Omozua, a 200-level student of the University of Benin, in a church in 2020. It was also confirmed that the suspect escaped from the Oko Correctional Centre during the widespread #EndSARS jailbreak in 2020.
In a separate but equally disturbing case, the command also nabbed a pastor for defilement and rape. The suspect, identified as Pastor Daniel Ololo of Omega Prophetic Prayer Ministry in Sapele, was arrested on November 17 following a petition.
“Investigation revealed that the pastor allegedly used fake prophecy to lure vulnerable church members to his church office, coerce them into believing that if he did not have sex with them, they would not be delivered,” Edafe stated. Further investigation revealed he had sexually assaulted three sisters who were his church members, with the last victim being a 17-year-old girl.
