In a bombshell statement during a media briefing in Scotland, U.S. President Donald Trump accused the Biden administration of politically targeting him by inserting his name into the controversial Jeffrey Epstein case files.
Trump, speaking alongside British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, described the renewed attention on Epstein's criminal case as “a hoax that's been built up way beyond proportion.” The former president further alleged that those managing the files during Biden’s term were corrupt officials seeking revenge.
“Those files were run by the worst scum on Earth,” Trump said on Monday. “They were run by Comey, Garland, Biden… all of them. If they had anything on me, they would have released it already.”
His claims come just a week after a Wall Street Journal report stated that Trump had been informed his name was included in the sealed files. The Justice Department recently released a memo asserting that Epstein had no so-called “client list” and that no further disclosures would be made — a decision that has infuriated members of both the Republican and Democratic parties.

Trump also suggested that political enemies might have fabricated evidence, comparing the potential manipulation of Epstein’s documents to the infamous Steele Dossier from the 2016 election.
“Christopher Steele wrote the fake news dossier. It was all phony. These people could do the same with the Epstein files,” he said.
The Epstein case, which has long captured public interest, continues to stir controversy, especially with high-profile names rumored to be involved. Trump’s remarks are expected to further intensify political tensions as the 2025 U.S. elections draw near.
