Napoli Shock Fans: Osimhen Named in Pre-Season Squad Amid Transfer Speculation

Victor Osimhen Napoli pre-season training transfer news

Despite swirling transfer rumors, Napoli have officially included Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in their pre-season plans starting mid-July.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport as reported by Punch Sports Extra, Osimhen is expected to rejoin Napoli's squad on July 14 when the Italian club kicks off preparations for the 2025/2026 season.

The 26-year-old, who has just completed a successful loan spell at Galatasaray where he scored 37 goals and contributed eight assists, will undergo medical tests between July 14 and 15.

Although his future with the Serie A club remains uncertain, Napoli’s decision to name him in the training squad is a bold statement. It comes amid ongoing transfer talks with several top European clubs. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool have all been linked with the Nigerian forward, with United reportedly leading the race.

According to Football Italia, Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal tabled a €40 million-per-year deal for Osimhen, which the striker turned down. The Saudis have not backed out completely, but if no deal is reached by mid-July, Napoli will formally notify Osimhen to report for pre-season training.

Training will begin in Dimaro, Trentino Alto Adige from July 17–27 and continue in Castel Di Sangro between July 30 and August 14, following a short break. While it is not yet clear if Osimhen will train with the main squad or separately, his presence is expected.

Osimhen’s contract with Napoli runs until June 2026, with an option to extend until 2027. The contract includes a €75 million release clause that excludes Serie A clubs — meaning Italian teams like Juventus would have to pay more.

Napoli’s move to include Osimhen in the pre-season setup signals that they are still in control of the player’s future, despite external pressure. Fans will be watching closely to see if he completes the pre-season or if a major transfer materializes in the coming weeks.
