Customs intercepts 1,682 wraps of cannabis concealed inside corpse

Nigerian airline, Air Peace, has pushed back strongly against allegations of passenger extortion made by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, demanding the release of airport CCTV footage to clarify the incident.

According to a statement released by the airline on Thursday, June 12, 2025, and reported by multiple media outlets, the company insists it did not sell tickets after check-in had closed nor did it extort passengers.

“Our attention has been drawn to the deliberate falsehood being peddled by Senator Adams Oshiomole against Air Peace,” the airline declared.

“The Senator lied blatantly when he accused Air Peace of extorting its passengers. We challenge Senator Oshiomole to bring one piece of evidence of a passenger who was extorted.”

Air Peace emphasized that the flight in question was not overbooked, contradicting claims made in videos circulating online. The airline stated that the plane left with more than 30 empty seats and that all tickets had been purchased before check-in closure.

“It would have been in our interest to carry Oshiomhole and others who missed their flights, but we won’t sacrifice on-time performance for monetary gains,” the airline noted.

The airline also refuted claims that Oshiomhole was protesting for other passengers, accusing him of disruptive behavior instead. According to Air Peace, the senator arrived late, caused a scene, jumped onto a baggage conveyor belt, and even blocked the airport gate—actions which allegedly disrupted airport operations.

“We call on the FAAN to release CCTV footage from the time Senator Oshiomole entered the airport,” the airline added, calling the accusations defamatory and “unfortunate.”

The incident has sparked widespread debate about accountability, airline protocols, and VIP behavior at public institutions.
