Nigerian Military Assures Citizens: ‘Don’t Worry About Insurgent Attacks, We Are in Control’ – CDS Musa

Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa addressing press on security updates

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has reassured Nigerians not to panic over recent insurgent attacks, stating that the military is firmly in control.

According to a report from Maiduguri, the defence chief addressed journalists on Thursday, emphasizing that security agencies are effectively managing the situation in the North-east despite renewed terrorist activities.

“The pockets of attacks should not be a cause for concern as the military and security agencies are firmly in control,” Musa stated. He explained that recent attacks were due to increased pressure on terrorists in the Sahel, forcing them toward Nigeria’s porous borders. “We are working diligently to address these challenges,” he added.

The CDS also revealed that Nigeria has procured advanced weapons and new strategies to combat terrorism. “During my recent trip to Russia, Nigeria engaged stakeholders willing to support our fight against Boko Haram, ISWAP, and banditry,” he said.

General Musa visited Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, where an armoury explosion occurred due to extreme heat, and held meetings with key security stakeholders at the 7 Division, Maimalari Cantonment.
